Butterfly Challenge- Week 2

It was a gorgeous day at Underwood Park for Week 2 of The Butterfly Boxing challenge. It was also great to welcome on board a couple of new and friendly faces.
This week we covered over the Basics and added some defensive skills to the mix - blocking a Jab and defending a right hand. Remember, the more relaxed you are, the easier it is to see and defend any oncoming attacks.
Gareth likes to say as an example: "If you know someone is going to throw a rock at you, the tendency is to tense up,expect it, be more rigid and less likely to be able to move quickly. But if you aren't expecting it, you don't tense up and your reaction time is much quicker without thought or tension"
The trick with defense is to be prepared (I.E Your hands correctly positioned to defend) but relaxed. It comes with practice and confidence- something that happens every time you train and commit yourself to learning and experiencing.
With such a large group of women learning and doing, it is no wonder that interested bystanders are curious and dare I say- a little in awe of what is being practiced.
Thank you Butterflies for being such a great team to work with. Make your intentions this week as powerful and rewarding as you dare! See you next week. H
